I wish I had been there!

I would have loved to have been here!  You've got to watch this, it is totally worth it!  Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

When it rains it pours

This weekend was an interesting one!  Our poor little Ashlyn got a boo boo.  She fell while playing with friends, and broke her arm right at her elbow. Bad
We made a trip up to the Children's Hospital, and at 11:30 at night Ashlyn went in for surgery.  They fixed her arm, and put three pins in it to keep it in place.  Ouch.  Ash has been so brave and strong.
This is the morning after her surgery.  She had eggs, pancakes, and an oreo shake for breakfast! (dad helped her order)
I love this hospital.  They take such good care of the kids and their families. If all we ever have to visit this hospital for is broken bones I'll be happy.  There are lots of very sick little kids here.  Ashlyn is done with school for the year.  She gets her hard cast on in about a week, and until then has to take it really easy.  We haven't told her yet that she can't go skiing this year.
Here is the x-ray showing the pins.  Ashlyn is one tough cookie.  Opps. Chocolate chip cookie, she says.

OUCH!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of relaxing in that wonderful spa called the hospital.  (catch the sarcasm?)  I had an umbilical hernia which basically means, thanks to all my babies, I have an owie in my belly button!  So I got the royal treatment yesterday.  Lying around all day, doing nothing.  :)

The surgery actually went really well, but I don't do well with the anesthesia.  I spent most of my recovery time tossing my cookies til they gave me a shot in my leg.  Bless them.  That helped soooo much.  I'm down for about a week, and my cute hubby is staying around to take care of me and the babies.  Isn't he the greatest?

I hope everyone is more ready for Christmas than I am. I wonder if I'll ever get ready now.

Blessings!

Last Sunday we blessed our little Emily Lauren.  It was a beautiful, special day.  Our families came to church with us so they could be there for Emily's big day.  She looks so sweet in her blessing gown.
Here is our whole family.  All eight of us.  Crazy, but wonderful.
Two weeks before that, Brennan was ordained as a Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  It was also a wonderful day.  I am so proud of Brennan and his good choices.  He is turning out to be a wonderful young man.  (don't tell him I said so, but he is darling with his little sisters)
Brennan is taller than both of us now.  He got his driver's licence a two weeks ago.  It is so strange to have him driving, but also VERY helpful.  He loves running errands for me.  I don't know how long that will last, but I'm going to take advantage of it while I can.
